There are many aspects of a locum tenens job opportunity to consider before making a decision solely based on pay rate. While pay rate is imporant, we think it’s also important to consider many other additional factors. We also encourace doctors to understand what is important for health care facilities. Many factors come into play with pay rates for a specific opportunity:
- More flexibility and availabilty will often provide higher compensation.
- If you are available for full time work, and flexible with your schedule in a given month, you can receive higher compensation and higher priority consideration for scheduling of shifts that work with your schedule.
- Higher compensation with less flexibility may not provide the number of desired shifts, and may be more difficult to line up schedules.
- Travel and housing may be a higher priority for you and could ultimately effect compensation. For many locum tenens contracts, a higher compensation could equate to lower quality accomodations.
- Can the firm you are working with get you started on time? Do they have the expertise to process credentialing paperwork, licensing, and hospital privileges in a timely manner?
SSG works to provide the best match to every circumstance. While compensation is an important aspect to consider, there are many factors that can effect a successful outcome for everyone involved.
